We’ve fallen behind on our baby posting! On September 30th we came together for Myrella and Theodora’s entrance into the Church (traditionally done at or after 40 days) and for Dora’s Baptism. Up until that point they were both staying at home bonding and recovering.

Prayers for their entrance into the church.

Anointing with holy oil.

The BIG moment. We knew she was in great hands with Fr. Gregory but there was still some tension in the air! Rightfully so as this begins her journey as a Christian.

Orthodox Christians baptize through triple immersion and follow that with being Chrismated (what is known as Confirmation in the western church). After this was her tonsuring, a sign of giving thanks for this sacrament. We cut 3 tiny pieces of her hair to do this.

With her God Family, Anna and Joaquin too. We were so relieved at this point that Theodora made it through her ceremony (a little less than 90 min or so) without a major fuss!

Myrella with Fr. Gregory and monks Fr. Stephen and Fr. Clement of Holy Cross Monastery. Fr. Stephen (on Myrella’s right) introduced me to Orthodox Christianity and baptized me in 2021.
